1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit it. They allow the website or third parties to recognise your browser and remember certain information across pages or across separate visits.

This website also uses localStorage, a browser storage mechanism. Unlike cookies, data stored in localStorage is not automatically transmitted to a server with every page request — it stays within your browser until you clear it or the website removes it. This website uses localStorage solely to remember your cookie consent choices (see Section 3).

2. Does this website use cookies?

Yes — but only within the categories you explicitly enable through the consent banner shown on your first visit.

  • Necessary functions (always active, no consent required): the website uses your browser's localStorage to save your consent preferences. Without this, the banner would appear on every single page load. No data leaves your device for this purpose alone.
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4 — requires your consent): if you accept the Analytics category, GA4 sets cookies to help us understand how visitors use the site. Data is sent to Google's servers.
  • Marketing cookies (Meta Pixel — requires your consent): if you accept the Marketing category, the Meta Pixel sets cookies and transmits event data to Meta for advertising and retargeting.

If you decline a category, no cookies from that category are placed on your device. This is guaranteed by the implementation of Google Consent Mode v2 with a default-denied configuration (see Section 3).

3. Consent and Google Consent Mode v2

This website implements Google Consent Mode v2. On your first visit (or after you clear browser data), the cookie consent banner appears. All optional cookie categories are off by default — analytics and marketing scripts do not run, and no optional cookies are set, unless and until you grant explicit consent for the relevant category.

The four Consent Mode v2 signals — analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization — are set to denied by default and updated to granted only upon your explicit acceptance of the corresponding category.

Your consent choice is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key rrl-consent so that it is respected on every subsequent page and visit without redisplaying the banner. Storing this preference is a strictly necessary technical function of the consent mechanism — it does not constitute tracking and does not require separate consent.

This approach implements the “privacy by default” principle required by Art. 25 GDPR and satisfies the requirements of the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (Provvedimento of 8 January 2022 — guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools, Doc. web n. 9677876).

5. Why a consent banner is required

Under Art. 122 of D.Lgs. 196/2003 (implementing Art. 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC, the ePrivacy Directive), storing or accessing information on a user's device — including analytics and marketing cookies — requires prior, informed, and freely given consent, unless strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user.

Analytics cookies (GA4) and marketing cookies (Meta Pixel) are not strictly necessary for the functioning of this website; they serve statistical and commercial purposes, and prior consent is therefore required. Consent must be freely given (no penalty for declining), specific (separate consent per category), informed, unambiguous (no pre-ticked boxes), and as easy to withdraw as to give.

6. How to manage and revoke your consent

On first visit: the banner appears; accept or decline each category independently. “Accept” enables all categories; “Decline” keeps only necessary functions active.

At any time: click Cookie settings in the footer of any page to reopen the panel and change or withdraw your choices.

Via your browser: you may also delete cookies already stored through your browser settings. This removes cookies already placed but does not automatically send a withdrawal signal to Google or Meta; for data already collected, exercise your rights directly with those companies (see Privacy Policy, Section 7).
